Zevquain was a hare, son of Major Dustscut of Salmandastron. One day he made the reckless decision of leaving his home for a few seasons, and was captured at the shoreline only a while later. He then met Riah, a young squirrelmaid slave who he rowed beside, and his adventures continued.
He is a brother to two sisters, Quira and Lark, and to an unnamed younger brother.

- The "quain" part of his name, was in reference to Tarquin, except with an 'a', but he was related to the Woodsorrel family all the same, and received the surname.
