Jackleap Strongfoot is a former hare of the long patrol, who was later named the Protector of Redwall, along with Tess Thropple.
Jacki came to Salamandastron as a leveret of less than five seasons, persued by the adder Scariss who had slain his parents. He was accepted as a Long Patrol hare, but nobeast ever saw him without his turban. At twelve seasons, he was sent to Redwall with Tess, Diamondback and Candlesmoke to protect it from Zanog Gonza's invading horde. Along the way, they meet new friends, old enemies, and unusual creatures, and discover that Jacki might not be just what he seems ...
